1st until 3rd of Sep 2025 Wed 3 Sep 2025, 6:51:21 pm CET September started with a bang. As always. Busy days at work, that is normal. It's been busy evenings with friends and family. The weather is still nice, but you can feel that autumn is coming. The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting longer. The leaves are starting to change colour, and the air is getting crisper. It's a time of transition, a time of change, a time of reflection. It's been a week of ups and downs, but mostly ups, no complaints thus. J. spent most of the time in Antwerp at the new student apartment, they are settling in there well and they are excited about new furnitures and stuff together. I remember how it was, a surreal feeling, but also exciting and fun. Now, I see things from the perspective of a parent. It's a mixed bag of emotions. On the one hand, I'm proud and happy. On the other hand, it's not always easy! Monday we had our masonic lodge meeting after the summer break. Always nice to see the brothers again and catch up on what has happened during the summer. Interesting discussions and, most importantly, a lot of fun. After the official part, we could meet up in our newly renovated "welcome room" with drinks and snacks. The renovation looks great and the room is now much more inviting and cosy but still respects the historical aspect of the lodge. A lot of work has been done, and it shows. Well done, brothers! Yesterday, Tuesday, was simply a weirdly nice day. Without realising it beforehand, and amidst everything else going on, we paid a visit to our former neighbours. After an intense treatment period, it was good to see the slow but positive progress in their overall health and well-being. We had a nice chat and lots of laughs. I cannot express how much respect I have for them and all that they have been through, yet they still have the strength to smile and laugh. You are both an inspiration! Receiving the air fryer - which was very nice - was just an excuse to come around. It looks like I will finally be meeting up with my old friend and former colleague, S., tomorrow. I haven't seen him for years, so it will be nice to catch up and find out how he's been. It feels like a lifetime since we worked together, and half a lifetime since we last saw each other. I mean, the last time was before the pandemic. Today was a time with some relative stability. But it is only 20:00 o'clock now, so the evening is still young. A lot can still happen... Did you know that..? I try to find an interesting historical event that occurred on this day. Wed 3 Sep 2025, 6:51:21 pm CET Did you know that today in 1967 is when Sweden switched from driving on the left-hand side of the road to the right Dagen H (H day), Sunday, 3 September 1967, was the day on which traffic in Sweden switched from driving on the left-hand side of the road to the right. The 'H' stands for 'Högertrafik', the Swedish word for 'right traffic'. It was by far the largest logistical event in Sweden's history. The process involved changing over one million road signs, relining tens of thousands of kilometers of roads, and converting thousands of buses to have doors on the other side. The change cost around 628 million kronor. The switch from left-hand to right-hand traffic was mandated by the Swedish government as most Swedes drove left-hand drive vehicles, and all of Sweden's neighbors drove on the right. Navigate back!
