1st until 8th of Dec 2024 Sun 8 Dec 2024, 5:56:13 pm CET We are in December. All of a sudden we are in the last month of the year and 2024 is almost history. That is just madness if I look back what happened this year. With everything going on in the world - Syria, US, Russia/Ukraine and South Korea to mention but a few - I hope it ends for the better. Of course it will, I bet on humanity and the good in everyone this Christmas time. Maybe it is especially important this year?! It was a strange week to say the least, global restructuring at work (coming back after my little holiday I learned that I lost one colleague), holiday (just took two days off for some productive private time), fantastic family time (warm and close time in Antwerp with our son J) and interesting decisions (I could not resist a great black Friday deal). So, in summary, we were pulled from left to right, from happy to overwhelmed and from hope to despair. We have always created an intimate family atmosphere during Christmas. Something I always had, more or less, but it is an important time for sure. In my family we have valued this to probably the most important family period. It starts 6th of December with Sinterklaas Read more about him on Wikipedia. This is probably the most important time for the kids in Benelux in the year.. Then we celebrate sankta Lucia Read more about this important day in Sweden. Certainly I have a lot of memories from my youth... in my family as well on the 13th of December (additionally, 12th is the birthday of my father in law). Beginning of the week, we had a wonderful time the three of us in Antwerp. It was a combination of driving him with all the stuff for the week in Antwerp and making a little excursion, an evening out the three of us. Antwerp was in preparation for Christmas as well setting up and preparing for the Christmas markets and the seasonal atmosphere The atmosphere is just fantastic in one of my favourite cities in the world.. By the suggestion of J.,we enjoyed a pizza at the fabulous V Pizza Positivly surprised with the great Pizzas. Probably one of the absolute best ones... in Antwerp. Then we also experienced our dear lady neighbours who are moving. The first open-door day resulted in a an offer that was accepted and done deal. We could also sit together and meet them over a nice dinner at our place. It was certainly long a due, a lot of interesting talks. fantastic times with J as well. Certainly since he has been a big part his whole life together with them. Then, coming back to work and learning about all the changes. In my little team, we have been through a lot. We are a very tight team that's been through great loss, having lost our manager to cancer, then it was of course Covid and then other complexities that comes in the professional lives on this level. We tackled together yet another hurdle and continue our fight together, bringing us even closer... I have the feeling that this post is growing too big. Who will ever read the complete text, I am not even halfway through everything that happened. And that is just on a surface level. Anyways, what else? Ohhhh, I bought a new 3D printer I am finally buying a Bambu Lab 3d printer. For many this is like "oh, you are joining the other side...". for my ...errrrr... Christmas gift. No, I should better say that it is a Sinterklaas gift. If I only hear from them soon, It's been too silent from them too long... Or do I need to be more patience? Maybe I should just stop here for now? I can continue but it's probably better I continue at a later time. I have so much more stuff... The conclusion is that I will update more often with shorter updates. Yup, but then I need to take the time for it. Luckily that I have a more efficient workflow keeping this blog updated. Oh, that reminds me about the brilliant Youtube post by NetworkChuck. Again, that is for a later time... Did you know that..? I try to find an interesting historical event that occurred on this day.
