Busy, Brilliant, & Bonding

4th until 10th of Sep 2025

Wed 10 Sep 2025, 5:19:17 pm CET Another week flew by, there were certainly some eventful couple of days. Last Thursday I had a meeting with my old friend and former colleague, S., whom I hadn't seen in years - 10 years to be specific. It was great to catch up and reminisce about old times. We talked about our careers, families, and the changes that have happened in our lives since we last met. It felt like no time had passed at all, and we picked up right where we left off. It was great seeing him in a brilliant restaurant restaurant, the view, mechelenThe venue was brilliant, the restaurant called the View in Mechelen. I will certainly come back...!

Last Friday was a rather hectic day at work, with late meeting to cover the US time-zone. But I managed to get everything done and even had time to relax in the evening with a nice glass of wine wine, luxaryWell, this bottle needs no explanation... with H. Then it is all worth it! The day after we were invited to our friend K.'s birthday party. It was a lovely evening with good food, drinks, and interesting company which sparked intellectual conversations. The party was located on a boat, a canal boat, in the area of Mechelen nature, cowsWe parked the car and then walked to the venue, the canal boat located in Zennegat, Mechelen. All of a sudden, it was a walk through fields on the countryside, which made it even more special. I did a little 3D print and added to the gift, one of the 5's bambulab,3d printA quick print on the Bambu printer. Loved the result of the multiple-colour print. in 55 - yes, the number of years K. has reached.

Sunday. And what a Sunday it was! Together with J. and K. we went to Zierikzee in the Netherlands Zierikzee, travelA great day at Zierikzee. It was simply great, the weather was perfect. A true Indian summer day with 28 centigrade and sunshine. It is so great that just an hour drive away you can find such beautiful places, completely different to where we live. It felt like a mini-vacation.

After a busy Monday of workday it was again time for a masonic gathering. This time it was the official opening of the new term followed with a really nice reception. It was great to see all the brothers again and catch up on what has happened during the summer. Interesting discussions and, most importantly, a lot of fun.

Then maybe the most ... event of this week happened, namely the surgery of J.'s wisdom teeth. They did all four teeth in one go under complete anaesthesia. It all went well, and now we are in the recovery phase. It is not fun, but it could have been worse. The hardest part is the constant pain, keeping it clean and to make sure J. eats enough, which is a challenge when you cannot really chew. But we are managing, and hopefully, in a few days, things will be back to normal. It was done in the hospital not far from where we live with a very competent crew. Kudos to them!

OK, some more things happened in between, like 3D printing and some other fun things, but now I need to zoom out a bit and relax. It has been a night with very little sleep caring for J., so I am a bit tired. But all is well, and we are on the right track. Life is good!

Did you know that..? I try to find an interesting historical event that occurred on this day. Wed 10 Sep 2025, 5:19:17 pm CET Did you know that today in 1993 is when the TV series The X-Files Read more about it on Britannica., starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, debuted on Fox, and it developed a huge cult following?
