Festive Fixes & 3D Wins: Mid-December Update

5th until 13th of Dec 2025

Sat Dec 13 2025, 12:00:29 pm CET OK, we are already half way in December, not even two weeks until Christmas. There are a lot of things that happened since last time I wrote a blog post on the 4th of December 2025 and hopefully I will remember to mention the most important things in this post.

Today is Saint Lucy's Day - Lucia celebrations Read more about it on Wikipedia. It is a rather interesting tradition that not many know about. happens on the 13th of December in Sweden and in some other Nordic countries. I remember the celebrations vividly and fondly from my childhood in Sweden. I always thought it was a beautiful tradition with the singing and the candles.

OK, back to what's happened since last time, I have been busy with work and some personal projects. I have also been trying to stay healthy and fit, which is always a challenge during the winter months. There are so many people with the flu and colds (Covid) around this time of year. J. had cold/sinus infection two times already and earlier last week he came down with a proper flu. I hope he's seen the worst and that he is on his way to recovery now. If they are not away sick, many at work are also taking holiday this period. It means that it's been a bit quieter on that front, but it means that a lot of unusual things are falling on my plate to handle.

We are fully into the Christmas preparations now. The Christmas tree is up and decorated, the lights are in place, and the house is starting to feel festive. I still have some shopping to do, but I think I'm getting there.

I have been 3D printing a lot on most of my machines and I also took some time to do proper maintenance on them all. I did an interesting modification on one of my printers, my Prusa Mini+, where I installed a new hotend duct fan (3D printed a new one in PETG). I also 3D printed a new display case with integrated power button and USB slot (USB+Powerswitch Extension Cable from here Read more about it here, you can also watch a good picture of the new display case.). It was a bit of a challenge, but I think it turned out perfectly and it was well worth it. For the rest, I made sure that they were cleaned, tightened screws and nuts and applied grease and oil. A very satisfying - and much needed - task.

Did you know that..? I try to find an interesting historical event that occurred on this day. Sat Dec 13 2025, 12:23:34 pm CET Did you know that today in 1642 is when the first recorded European Abel Tasman Read more about it on Wikipedia. reach New Zealand.
