4th until 14th of Aug 2025 Tue 12 Aug 2025, 7:15:18 pm CET What I am doing now, this everyday Tuesday evening, is writing this post. I am sitting at the shared living-room desk, with my laptop open, and I am typing this text. I have - enjoying - a glass of wine and I am waiting for the cooking clock to ring, I am the command and chief of dinner tonight. The curtains are drawn to keep the sun/heat out. H is out with friends after a whole day of meaning-of-life-level chores - 'silently assisting and guiding J in his studies' thus. It's been just over a week since last time I wrote but it has been a CRAZY time. Trust me, that madness was just unreal. Thu Aug 14 2025, 10:45:56 pm CET It is two days later. I never got around to posting this on the 12th, so I am doing it now and adding some updated stuff that happened in the meantime. I will not change or edit the text above, just keep its original tone. You can check the timestamps of these posts when they were last modified, so you know what is new and what is not. I wrote a Sunday last time, in the meanwhile a working week, a weekend and half of the next upcoming work week already passed. I am not sure how to summarise the last 10 days, but I will try. It is very busy at work which is actually something good, but when the stress is of the negative kind it is a different story. A lot is due to the situation we are currently enduring in the company. Just because you are working in a huge multi-national company doesn't mean that you are safe or that the business is safe. Especially (or should I say "because of") with the current world situation we have today when contra productive result is overlooked due to the political goals and the egoistic greed that some leaders seem to think is an asset. The biggest personal problem is that my mentor and manager (for more than 25 years) has decided to step down and leave the company. The decision was understandable but it is still a shock to me. I have been working with him for so long that I cannot imagine the company without him. I will miss him dearly as the backbone of the organisation that is closest to me. His replacement is a person I do not know, but the first impression is very positive so far, but it is still a change that is very new to me. Anyway, that was on my mind and then there are more fundamentally changes happening in parallel that I am not able to go into details about, but it is a change that will affect the whole company and the way we work. Some are good and some of the changes are just too new too know how it will affect us in the long run. While this is happening, there are also things happening impacting the rest of the family, as it always does this period. J is busy with his studying very intensely, H is busy gearing up for the new school year. People are back from holidays and the need of socialising seems to be the thing too. I was hoping that there would be some slack in time now when we are outside holiday season. That I could take some time to visit my parents (due to everything happening, it's not been possible to visit Sweden this year yet). I think it would a good thing to do if I see the recent development back home. It is just too much happening at the same time. The weather - heat - did not change in the last two days. Today I have the feeling that it is even hotter than before. At least that is how it feels, it is humid and it feels like there is no oxygen in the air. I am sweating like a taxi driver in Baghdad. Tomorrow is a public holiday here in Belgium where I live which is the case for many countries in Europe. It is the Assumption Day, "a Christian holiday that celebrates the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was assumed into heaven". Yes, that is something I feel very strongly about...sure? I think the value of a resting day off is more important than the historical reason for it. OK, it has already been a long post, so I will stop here. I will try to write more often, as this is something I really enjoy doing. It is a great way of going over the recent events and thoughts. I am also making it searchable for me, I can go back in time to check and read about what happened that day, how did I reason and how was it resolved. Very useful on all level. OK, on a content level I was planning to include more about events, excursions and hobbies that took place. But as it is just getting too late and I have been writing way too much already, I will try to include it in the next coming days. I promise... Did you know that..? I try to find an interesting historical event that occurred on this day. Tue 12 Aug 2025, 7:15:18 pm CET Did you know that today in 1935 is when Franklin D. Roosevelt signs the Social Security Act Read more about it on Wikipedia., creating a government pension system for the retired. Navigate back!
