Life's Little Adventures & Reflections

10th until 14th of May 2025

Thu May 15 2025, 12:38:29 am CET OK, it has been a few days since I last wrote something. The evenings have been busy and just haven't allowed me to write anything, busy during the day with work as usual and then there were the evenings filled with magical stuff. Like this evening, we met up and stepped into the role of moving guys . Yes, I think I mentioned it before, but our dear neighbour ladies are moving away and we are moving some stuff out. Not to go into too many details, but of the families are involved it just adds to the complexity. The stuff doesn't just need to be moved...only then the complexity starts. I am SURE you can relate.

Before that, and partly because I need to document it for myself, a quick update on my tobacco plants. Oh yes, I am growing my own tobacco to see if I can make my own pipe tobacco. It is progressing fabulously See how lush and healthy they look. There are three distinct types of tobacco - kentucky (the small onces in front), Virginia (2 middle rows, all 6 growing like mad) and then Burely, 5 pots in the last 2 rows in the background (which were planted two seperate time)., and I am very happy with the results so far and I am learning crazy much. Hum, I should document it maybe...oh, I know where I can do that. I have a dedicated website for my 3D printing and other hobbies, and ...right, it is HERE and you are all a part of it. Enough of the jokes, I am still in the process of re-potting them. Some are still in the "nursery pots", and I am waiting for the last ones to grow a bit more before I re-pot them. To my surprise, they just recently started to shoot up See how they flurish! In just two days they exploded. THe interesting thing is that even the Kentuckey ones started shooting up. They seem to be the most difficult ones!, I must have done something good, because it is really remarkable how fast they are growing.

OK, that was that. That was the quick tobacco update, and now for the rest. So if I start what happened yesterday, such a nice evening with J and K. Finally we could meet up and share some of our hectic life. And we could not have done it in a better location, namely at MAS museum in Antwerp. We had a very nice dinner at the restaurant there, and then we went up to the rooftop terrace to enjoy the view over Antwerp. It was absolutely brilliant weather, and we were lucky to have a clear sky. The view was stunning, and we could see all the way to the Cathedral of Antwerp, the docks and enjoy the spectacular skyline of the city antwerp, MASIt was truely spectacular!.

So, that all happened yesterday. It really gave off summer holiday vibes - it feels like it's Friday today!

The wonderful evening with the wonderful son J and his K was yesterday Tuesday. Monday evening was another Masonic evening, it was time for another interesting presentation, the topic was (freely translated by me) "75 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - a reason to celebrate? Interesting topic, the presentation basically started with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 and how it has evolved to the present day. It is a huge topic and in some areas I am not so sure it has really moved forward in a positive way. I am not going to go into a detailed analysis, but I think a good place to start is to raise awareness and start with ourselves. This is especially important in times when there are forces - Trump and his entourage, Putin, Orban, Erdogan, Kim Jong Un... (the usual suspects as if that is a surprise) - making the progress stagnate in the last few years. Stupidity seems to be the new norm. It is as if we refuse to learn from our past mistakes. Look to the history and you will see that we are repeating the same mistakes over and over again. It is simply mind-boggling.

OK, time to go to bed, I tell you!

Did you know that..? I try to find an interesting historical event that occurred on this day. Wed 14 May 2025, 7:57:43 pm CET Did you know that today in 1097 is when the Siege of Nicaea begins during the First Crusade Read more about it on Wikipedia..
