Tech, Prints & Life’s Quirks

13th until 17th of Jun 2025

Tue 17 Jun 2025, 10:16:34 pm CET I recently bought a "new" (not really as I went against my principles and bought a 'refurbished' one this time) mobile phone: iPhone 14 Pro This is one of the best camera phones - taking all into consideration - at this very moment. I received it yesterday and did all the setup and installations. Appart from banking and ID apps in multiple countries, I have a very complex setup with company dependencies, VPN and other secirity related dependencies. Not very straight forward, I am not through it all. Here I am comparing with the latest top of the line, my new phone and what I had before....

For me getting a new phone often is a process of weeks. This time it took months... I really have to analyse the market and see what really fits my needs. Then there is the phase of hesitation and then maybe, just maybe it is the decision. I have a real problem with today's phone prices. I mean, really — if you think about it, you could get three 3D printers, ten really nice tobacco pipes, or even a top-end laptop for the price of one of these phones!

Getting a new phone was a big thing as it is also changing day-to-day life. I tell you why, I missed an appointment today. How is that even possible? Today I had to get my winter tyres fitted to my car and I missed the appointment. I haven't told anyone because it's so embarrassing. Since I changed phones and it's not fully set up yet, the reminders failed to warn me. It's crazy how important phones are, and how dependent our habits are - we're really lost without our phones. I am one of them, Sad...

yesterday I attended a masonic evening. It was a nice celebration of the, let us call it, midsummer solstice. It was a very nice evening, with a lot of good food and drinks, and a lot of good company. I said it before, but was a nice bunch of people...

I am happy to have been printing again, did some surprises and secret 3D printing projects for loved ones. I used the Bambu Lab and the Prusa printers, and I am really happy with the results. I am especially happy with the one on the Prusa printer Here it is in action. Love it!, it was a long time ago since I last used it seriously.

There were some other things I wanted to write about, but I will leave it for the next post. This evening I was helping out L - the daughter of my brother in lay - with her upcoming English exam. It is such a lovely girl and it is just a pleasure to speak with her in general. Now I had to conduct an english conversation keeping some topics, vocabulary, phrases and grammar in mind. It was truly a pleasure and I am sure we will do it again. Fingers crossed for you tomorrow, but I am sure you will do good sweetheart!

Did you know that..? I try to find an interesting historical event that occurred on this day. Tue 17 Jun 2025, 10:16:34 pm CET Did you know that today in 1885 is when the Statue of Liberty Read more about it on Wikipedia. arrives in New York Harbor.
