17th until 22nd of Mar 2025 Sat Mar 22 2025, 5:02:47 pm CET It's been a nice week overall - busy at work, but with good progress and some nice personal activities. Can't complain. It's been a while since the last update, but you may have noticed that I've been doing some work on the site, adding a content search feature. I found a really nice product called Pagefind Pagefind is a great product to provide indexing and search features to static websites.. I received the last of the tobacco seeds I ordered last week - I now have seeds for three different types of tobacco. It was also Father's Day where I live and I received a plant propagation set for my seeds from my lovely wife. The plan is to start the project tomorrow, hopefully it will not be too late (where I live the tobacco plants need all the warmth and sun they can get). I think it will be the perfect thing to do on a Sunday. I am busy building a new website for my friend M's new business. I think I mentioned it before, but I was able to have a meeting this week and sort out the final issues and we are pretty much done with it. I decided to go with Hugo and a theme called Blowfish. I am really happy with the result and the solution I came up with. It was really interesting to delve deeper and learn more about the specific theme and features. As soon as it is officially launched I will certainly share it with you. Coming back to the new search function on my fantasticwebsite; it is also using the Hugo framework, but I am building my own theme from scratch. The Pagefind in a binary application that will index all HTML files of your website and create a folder structure with details, styles and everything needed to integrate the search function in existing webpages. The interesting finding - after some struggling this morning - was the specific build expression needed every time I have to release the website. As you might remember, I am using Github as the repository and then I finally release it to Cloudflare. Fortunately, Cloudflare is such a versatile and great product that it supports npx CLI commands during the build process. This, and here it comes, is also in combination with the Hugo build commands. With this in mind, I am able to run the following command: hugo && npx pagefind --site "public" Anyway, that a really nice breakthrough. I almost gave up on Pagefind and was planning to use the first alternative that I found. Namely the Hugofastsearch I found it on the Hugo website about preferred search solutions. that I found during my research. In about 30 minutes, we will have family over for a birthday party. It was someone's birthday fairly recent who we still need to celebrate... Did you know that..? I try to find an interesting historical event that occurred on this day.
